Grocery stores

I was in a different part of the city the other day and I needed to do some grocery shopping. I like Loblaws and it is interesting that they are usually set up the same way so it is not too difficult to find one’s way around.

My local Loblaws is rather large. It was closed for over a year because the store was completely demolished and a new one replaced it. I have got spoiled because now when I go into a smaller store I miss all the choices.

Near where my mom lived on Princess Street there was a small grocery store. It was almost in walking distance depending on how many items were being bought. It is now closed.

When I was growing up we shopped at the A&P. Then some years later, there was an IGA. There was also a Dominion but we did not usually shop there. In later years there was even a Loblaws.

I do not see too many IGA stores around any more but next door to one of my favourite restaurants, there is one. I went into it to see what it was like. The setting was so familiar - like something from my past.
