In my house: renovations

Owning my own house is a good thing. Renovations and updates come in 2 types - those that have to be done and those that I want to do. The renovations last year were in the second category.

I was into Rona the other day to pick up a small item. I remembered last year at this time. I was getting ready for some major renovations in my house - a new kitchen, a new bathtub, and lots of painting among other things.

How do you choose a bathtub or even some paint colour that you will be living with for a long time? I did do both and they look quite fine.

There was lots of running around back and forth to the stores - Rona and Home Depot in particular. No - this shower curtain rod is the wrong size. No - this is not the correct light bulb. AHHH!!!

There was lots of turmoil and confusion and noise in my house. These renovations were done in the winter. Some of the sawing was done in my garage and it was very cold. I slept in the basement for 2 months. I was without a kitchen for 4 weeks. There were lots of handymen coming and going from my house for a long time.

Now I am enjoying the benefits of having all these renovations done at once. I can find my way around my new kitchen and I am not looking for something in the wrong place. The paint job is nice and bright - especially on a sunny day. The bathtub is quite satisfactory.

If I start to think about anything else to be done - I think again. I can wait a while.
