Praying Congregations: the Heart of Christian Community

It has been a busy time with preparing for the Prayer Conference that was held this weekend. I met up with a number of folks that I knew there. One was a former babysitter who remembered me. Another was a retired librarian friend whose sister goes to my church. There were also many cursillo and SSJD Associates friends there as well.

I shared with a friend on the drive there and home again. She is going through a major transition in her life as she is preparing for ordination to the diaconate. It was good to have the time with her.

The setting was nice although it was much too wet to want to be outside. The music was great and so was the speaker.

We were encouraged to share with different people and that was a good experience too.

It was good to see our diocesan bishop and the bishop-elect from the next diocese there as well.

So now I will have some time to be involved in other activities or not - maybe getting caught up on my reading and household projects - including some mending that has been sitting in my cupboard for some months now.

The involvement has been going on for two years for me so that is a considerable time commitment.

It was good to be part of the planning group and share with others that I knew before and also some folks that were new friends.

We got positive comments about the event and are all pleased that we were involved.
