Hockey souvenirs

I am not anything of a hockey fan but my sister is. She often watches the Vancouver Canucks games with a good friend who lives up the street.

When her team was eliminated from the playoffs this year she changed her allegiance to another Canadian team - the Montreal Canadiens. In fact she had some hockey memorabilia for the occasion. I asked her where she got the facecloth. She said - in the dollar store in Lachute.

So now the famous hockey sweater worn by Paul Henderson at the final game of the 1972 Canada Russia series is up for auction. Folks hope that it will come back to Canada.

I seem to remember something about when he scored the winning goal on September 28, 1972. I had just moved to Toronto to study for my library science masters degree. I was in the bank at the time and there was a very large cheer - which I am sure could be heard all across Canada.
