St. Lawrence Seaway and Upper Canada Village

I have pictures from the 1960s when family from England were visiting. This is part of local Canadian history but it must have seemed to be quite new to them. Now the trees are much taller and bigger at the Village.

There are Canadian horses there too and they have bred them for some years.

The Village was put together when this area was flooded for the St. Lawrence Seaway.

I have been reading Maggie Wheeler’s series about this area. A lot of it is about not being able to go back to one’s home. If they were flooded by the Seaway, you cannot.

So this is where the idea came from about emotional landscapes.
