Malls large and small

I was recently watching an interesting documentary on shopping malls - those that were growing and those that were not. I think I have spent a lot of time in shopping malls and not just large ones.

In Lachute there is a small mall. There used to be a Chinese buffet restaurant there and it was a nice place to go for Sunday brunch. My mom and I went there often.

The last shopping trip my mom went on was to Carrefour Laval not too far from Lachute. We looked in the stores but did not do too much actual shopping. I think I bought a couple of winter hats which I still have - six or seven years later. Of course we stopped to eat - that is an important part of any mall expedition.

My mom liked to go shopping with me when she came to Ottawa. We would go to St. Laurent Centre or Place d’Orleans. Now I tend to go more to St. Laurent because I joined the walking group there.

Last summer on a stay at the convent I went out and about for various activities. I took a trip to Vaughan Mills Mall - what a large place. If you joined the walking group there you could certainly go for a long walk.

When I visited Edmonton I took several expeditions to West Edmonton Mall. That is quite a place to see as well.

In the north end of Montreal - Town of Mount Royal to be exact - there was a small strip mall. That is where my aunt and my mom would meet when my grandmother came to Lachute. My mom did not like to drive in the Montreal traffic. My aunt was used to that so she would drive my grandmother to this little mall where my mom would meet her. Then the “Mom Exchange” would happen and my grandmother would be off to Lachute for a visit.
