This looks like my mom hard at work on her ironing machine.
I was passing by where some ironing was being done - perhaps it was a dry cleaners/laundry place. The smell reminded me of my mom’s laundry room in Lachute.
She had an ironing machine which she used to iron flat items and my dad’s shirts. It made for an easier job than doing them all by hand.
It was a big event when she got sheets for the guest room bed that did not need to be ironed.
Now I try to do as little ironing as possible. If I put my clothes in the dryer and take them out right away - then I do not have to iron them.
However since I have been involved with the Altar Guild my own ironing is always up to date. I just iron my own stuff - mainly linen dish towels and napkins - at the same time.
