Small houses

There was a recent article in the local newspaper about post-war housing in Ottawa. I went to look at one of them when I was house hunting 20 years ago. It was cute but very small and the basement needed to be finished.

This house is where we lived when I was first born. It was quite small and only had 2 bedrooms. It was on Cottingham Boulevard in Mountainview in Lachute. There was not much of a mountain to see - only a small hill.

On the back side of this picture there are notes about plants and bushes that might do well around the house. My mom and dad both liked to garden.

I think this house has several nice touches, especially in the windows: style of front door, entrance and garage windows, side window projected out from wall, dormer window upstairs, and use of small squares in windows. Also small roof formation above front entrance and garage doors in style of "regular" doors. Interesting that most of these features have been brought back in contemporary design. That's some stylish car!
