Playing on the computer

As I was looking back at old Christmas letters that I had written I realized that it was in 2000 that I first bought a computer. I had been using them at work for many years before that.

It is very easy to spend time playing with different applications. I was thinking particularly of pictures this time.

On Sunday morning I went looking for pictures of Lachute. Of course I found some and I tried to remember what all the places were. There were some familiar spots - St. Julien’s Church, the golf club, the train station.

Then I realized that Kathi had taken some very nice pictures of the area near Princess Street. I think these are in a photo album somewhere in my basement.

I was also trying to figure out how to use pictures on my blog and my Facebook account. One I did put on Facebook was admired. It was of Abra.

I have been increasing my volunteer involvements in the last while. I will give you access to this online list; here is how you update this information. Every application is different but at least I feel comfortable enough online to try different things.

Hi Vicki,

When I started working, I used a regular typewriter and was over the moon a few years later when the company I worked for got IBM electric typewriters! Telexes were used to send the same message to a distribution list and photocopiers were used for special documents. It's amazing how technology has changed.

I work all day on a computer and I have a laptop next to the couch at home. I find that if I don't turn it on and at least check Fugly Horse of the Day, my email and facebook account while I am watching the telly, I go through withdrawl!
