So it is getting towards that time of the year. Once Advent starts - as it did last Sunday - I feel like I can do some Christmassy stuff.
I know I need to find time for listening to Advent and Christmas music, for more Bible reading and reflection. A good place for me to do this is in my basement near the Christmas tree and its lights.

The presents have been bought.
The Christmas letter has been partially written.
The decorations are starting to find their way out of various boxes.
The Christmas recipes have been thought about.

I have many old family decorations. I have a stocking which my mom made when I was very little.
I have put out some Christmas pictures from the family photograph albums.
The stuffed animals have their Christmas bows.
Abra has been consulted as to what she wants for Christmas.
I will be putting up my imitation tree which I paid $14.98 for in 1974 from Eaton’s.

So what is on my Christmas food list?
Noel Shrimp Bake - with red and green peppers; supposed to be eaten while decorating the Christmas tree.
Spritz cookies - texture close to shortbread with little coloured sprinkles; pushed through a cookie press - quite difficult to make if the texture is not exactly right.
Jolly Breakfast Ring - from a Betty Crocker cookbook that I got when I was 10 or so.
Stuffing - with sausage and rice and spices. My mom always made this one. It is good to make other times of the year besides Christmas.
*****
Most of the goodies I will eat myself except for the cookies. I will eat some of course but the rest I will give away. They are just too good to only eat a few!

By the way, did Abra mention to anyone what she wants for Christmas? She just may have to wait and see what Santa brings.

I think Abra may want some special Christmas cookies.... :-)
Her cousin Red (my sister's horse in Vancouver) will be sending some horse snacks. That is what Abra has sent to him.
Abra's mom is thinking of a new bridle. The one she has fits but it is on the top hole.
When Abra loses some more weight, she will need a new girth. Maybe for New Years??
Every girl deserves to have nice accessories! Makes us feel pretty. Abra will certainly enjoy her very own new bridle!
