Finishing up old projects etc.

My mom sewing on her old machine. Her newer machine (from 1964) I have now in Ottawa. How I wish that there was an odometer on it. How many miles did she sew on it?

I am trying to get organized for fall. In my cupboard I found 2 projects that I wanted to finish up. My mom always liked to knit. My sister and I have some lovely sweaters, hats, etc. that she made.

She wanted to continue this actitivity as long as she could. The last thing she started to knit was a scarf. This would have been in the winter of 2003/2004. She was really not feeling well and after she went into the hospital in March 2004, she never did any more knitting.

When cleaning up her house to get it ready to sell, I took the unfinished scarf. Now I wish I had taken the extra pieces of fringe that she had made. In my rush to tidy things up I threw them away. Now I will need to search the Internet to learn how to do this or finish the scarf without the fringe.
(P.S. I finished it without the fringe. )

Early in 2005 my mom was in a retirement home and having major health issues. As I was sitting by her bed, I wanted some quiet activity to pass the time. So I brought out the unfinished scarf. I made good progress on it. Then I stuffed it away in a cupboard - basically until now.

The other thing I have is my mom's last sewing project. That will end up with my sister a bit later. I still have to figure out how to finish it.

I realized at one point that my mom made all the curtains in my house. I had a bit of a disaster the other day as the ones that I close often in my computer room have become very fragile and in fact I tore one when I was closing it the other day.

Replacement curtains or a new type of blind? I am not sure right now.
